i wash with hot water and sometimes add a drop of dettol and natural dry. regular laundry soap are mostly bleaching so tend to wash off the fabric fast. so it does not look trustworthy for me. boiling hot water is 100% sure or if its normal water, add a drop of dettol

btw i don't recommend washing with hot water as it will wear out the filtration layer quickly
