JVP views are outdated and not practical. Their opinions on expressways, port city,eastern terminal, yugadanavi and MCC are garbage to say the least. Do you really think they would be able to attract foreign investors? First of all what would be their economic model?

Challenge for all JVP supporters. State 5 positive things about JVP(not the absence of negative things)

Not a JVP supporter but I'm considering them because:

-1)Being the sole voice inside the parliament to expose and question corrupt practices of both UNP and SLFP;
- 2)Not having a track record of abusing MP privileges;
- 3)Composed and logical reasoning instead of personal insults when it comes to political debates;
- 4)Least nepotistic party as far as I can see;
- 5)Because I believe they deserve a chance for their persistence if nothing else.

1) UNP exposes corrupt practices of MR and co. MR and co. criticize corruption in UNP government. JVP criticizes both. Seems like criticizing the other party is the common denominator here. Nothing special. What we have to check is whether their criticism is reasonable or they are just criticizing to gain political advantages. In that regard JVP (along with the other two) fails miserably. They criticized the necessity of expressways. They criticize the privatization of inefficient government departments.( I am not a fan of UNP privatization policy as well. The objective of privatization should be to improve a product or service with private investments. For that production sector and service sector should be privatized with transparency not supply chains like ceypetco and sathosa which have no effect whatsoever on improving market size.) They criticized MCC. And a few weeks back I saw JVP posters demanding salary hike. They even fail to demand for the right solution.
2), 4) - yeah absence of negatives. BTW I have a lesser number of ducks in ODI than Sanath.( Before becoming president MR also had no previous evidence of nepotism)
3- Agree
5- This is a totally irrational statement that makes me quite mad. What is this ? student of the day award in pre school to be gifted because they haven't had it before. They should be given power only if they prove their qualification for the job.

The problem with SL political system is its basically a system of quid do pro between party leaders and party members. Gota wont sack imbeciles/crooks and in turn they protect Gota when the necessity arises. M3 gave MP posts to rejected candidates because they supported him. MR did not expose files and those were protected pioneered Mahinda sulaga. ANd of course, MR protect RW and RW protected MR when it was his turn. M3 protected MR's family so he will not be held responsible for the Easter attack. The list goes on. Thats why we need a person who is outside the current political system to break it. One who rose from it and survived because of it wont change anything.

BTW my challenge still stands .Give 5 positives without the absence of negatives.

First of all GDP is not just products it includes the service sector as well.
How an expressway affects the economy. The development of transport infrastructure has a major beneficial effect on the economy. It will reduce the transport expenses as well as time and because distant towns are connected to bigger cities there is spillover effect as well. In the case of southern expressway due to reduced congestion of Galle rd and more fuel economy of driving express way probably have saved billions of rupees. It alone justifies it. Furthermore it has encouraged the industrialization of southern provinces. I don't think companies like Ewis would have built factories in Hambanthota if not for the expressway. I can go on.But I think you get the point. QUestioning the necessity of an expressway is a good example of the outdated thinking pattern of JVP.I agree with the point on corruption but the criticism should be directed to corruption, not on the concept of the expressway. I welcome you to propose a better project with better cost-effectiveness. Maththala air port is a useless project but not the expressway.

I value my time better than to watch some SL politician babbling on a fantasy for a few hours. But I just read NPP policy book for the last presidential election But guess what they haven't mentioned the economic model that they are going to follow.

Without the relevant numbers, I cant say which project would have been better. But there is no rule that we should 100% complete one project before starting another. Exporting minerals as raw products is a huge waste of resources but it does not mean that we should do any other project till we attend that.

ජේවීපී එකේ ආර්ථික ප්‍රතිපත්තිය නෙවෙයි දැන් තියෙන්නේ.ජේවීපී එකේ ආර්ථික ප්‍රතිපත්තිය ඉතින් අර පරණ සමාජවාදී එකනේ.පොඩි පොඩි වෙනස්කම් තියෙන්න පුලුවන්.ඇතුල එකයි.ඒකෙන් ගැලවිලානේ NPP එක හැදුවේ.ඒක හදලා තවම අවුරුදු 3යි.ජනාධිපතිවරණෙටත් ආර්ථික ප්‍රතිපත්තියක් ඉදිරිපත් කරානේ.ඒක අපිට මදි එකනෙ ප්‍රශ්නය.(ඔව් ඒක මටත් මදි).අවුරුදු හැටක ඉඳන් එකම ආර්ථික ප්‍රතිපත්තිය නම් තියෙන්නේ වැඩකුත් නෑනේ.දැන් ඔය ආර්ථික ප්‍රතිපත්තිය හැමෝම වගේ අහන දෙයක්.ඒ නිසා ඒකට සවිස්තරාත්මක උත්තරයක් ලැබෙයි.අවුරුදු හැටේ කතාව සාධාරණ නෑ.ඒ පරණ කතා අයින් කරගෙනනෙ 2018 NPP එක හැදුවේ.බලමු. - My question is simple . Are they going to follow a capitalistic model? If takes 3years to be decided upon how long they need to act on it?
