Yes... It is questionable. It's
only a theory and was proposed by Prof Rajendra Gupta (University of Ottawa) to address the existence stars like
Methuselah which seems to be older than the Universe. Methuselah- or HD140283 was a staggering 16 billion years old as estimated by the ESA satellite data. It's about 190.1 light years from us.
But how can a star be older than the Universe?
(
Note: Methuselah was the oldest man lived on Earth according to the Hebrew Old Testament - supposedly lived for 967 years or so - so the star was named after him because it was the oldest)
So Gupta suggested Zwicky’s Tired Light theory, which proposes that the redshift of light from distant galaxies is caused by the gradual energy loss of photons over vast cosmic distances. By allowing this theory to coexist with the expanding universe, Gupta suggests a hybrid interpretation of redshift that explains the observations more accurately.
Additionally, Gupta incorporates the concept of evolving “coupling constants,” as theorised by Paul Dirac, which are fundamental physical constants governing particle interactions. He proposes to change the Cosmological Constant with another which accounts for the evolution of Coupling Constants.
(Note: Some scientists suggest that the Tired light theory should be Re-tired.

)
But later observations from Hubble placed placed Methuselah to be around 14 Billion years old which is more or less near enough. More recent estimates using JPL, MESA data place Methuselah to be around 12 Billion years old. (
12.01 ± 0.05 Gyr)
More accurate estimates will be made with new data hopefully. There are other stars like Methuselah but so far the Big-Bang isn't disproved.
