    Imt ekakut enawa neda..

    =AMT I think.

You'd be better off with a DCT, atleast you'll enjoy the vehicle when it works. Renault Nissan and Maruti Suzuki's AMTs are janky af, highly doubt KIA's IMT will be much better

    Heavy traffic වල neutral කරා නම් හරි.
------ Post added on Jul 27, 2025 at 10:18 PM

The issue is driving in crawling speeds, not holding the car in D with the brake... so in heavy traffic you have to let the front car move forward a bit and use the accelerator instead of lifting the foot off brake and letting the car crawl

    Easier said than done though

    India වල නම් case එකක් ඇවිල්ලා නෑ තාම.

DCT is its own problem regardless of the manufacturer, that's mainly due to design. faster gear changes but end of the day need to concern more about the maintainance
@Hyaenidae any idea about Toyota's direct shift CVTs?

Just last month I had to take a sudden 220Km trip because of a family emergency

We were in town with 1/3 of a tank when we learned a family member was hospitalized. Hospital's 110km away, so 220km total, with a 10 minute fuel stop.

The point is EVs are fantastic but they have a way to go before they could become a reliable primary transportation option.

Ideal as second vehicles though since you can plan every trip ahead of time.

Yeah, same concern for me. It's hard to predict our needs. Sometimes I suddenly have to go to Matara from Colombo. I don't think EV fit for me.

You are making a mistake, neh machan , even with a petrol car. Its not about the car itself but your planning and readines. Always keep your fuel at least 50% full for emergencis, thats being prepared. It doesnt matter what kind of car you drive, you should always be ready for long trips.

If you had 50% batery, you could have easily completed the trip without stoping. Plus, you could charge the electric car on the way back. The key is getting there quickly, not necessarily rushing back.

In our small country, range is not an issue anymore for electric cars, but the lack of charging points is still a big dis advantage right now.
