and continue with the installation without creating the database from the script.
Just populate the tables and data from the script.

it installs just fine on bytehost.com freehosting

installed by uploading the joomla 1.5 via FTP and using the webinstaller.

I created the empty database from the Control panel's MySQL Database setup

I gave the name : joomla_db
It added the username in fromt and made the full db name to : b4_4182578_joomla_db

Then in the joomla installer, DB settings I entered as follows:

The installation went without a hitch.

At what step did you mess it up ?

Oh and you owe me big time for the time wasted on uploading 15mb of the damned joomla files to that host!

Thanks for all your support machan. I didnt create the DB manually.I just added it on the setup...I will check that now and tell you if things go correctly!
