Well your missing the whole point here, Musharoff came to power not through an election...people never really wanted him. Had SF staged a coup and ousted Mahinda then you have the right exmaple. But it's not the case is it? He's contesting for a "free and fair" (As far as MR wants it to be) election.
And I'm not saying America half a century ago is the best example, but Musharoff definitely cannot fit in the same picture. He's a misfit! You can bring in Idi amin, Musharoff and tons of others, but they were dictators that came to power by guns!And we don't have a south asian military leader elected as a head of state in the recent past, to my knowledge. So we are left with USA and France.
So if you can't understand that fundamental diference in the situation there's no point in continuing this debate!
