Ah..Then it may be true!
I think Mr Mendis tried at his best to reach the level of the original creation.
I read the first half of the new book, Mendis is trying to match the real SH by using various chemical tests such as making Phenol using Benzene etc and letting us know train schedules etc.
But readers don't care about those things,isn't it?Most important is the plot and curiosity through out the story which sir Doyle manage to do so well.

The familiarity of the time and place makes a huge difference as it helps to paint the picture that is being described in the novel. Quite a lot of SH stories rely on it for Holmes to actually do the detecting and make his assumptions. To create that atmosphere, intimate knowledge of the place, time people and even the weather helps. Its part of the reason why SH stories are so popular.

Ok I'll explain tell me If I got u twos convo wrong

As we all know first SH 60 story written By Doyle right ?
But after that Chandana Mendis continued with some other stories saying he found many other stories of SH written by Doyle which were never published
and he says there was a real SH and Watson was Doyle himself

Did I get it right upto that part is it what you 2 were talking about ?
