no, other cards work. But when you give the HSBC card, they don't question about the bank, country etc
Have you ever been to other countries using cards issued by local banks? I’ve traveled to several countries using a Commercial Bank debit card and no one questioned the bank or the country it was issued from. When we go abroad, our cards work as international Visa/Mastercard/Amex anyway. By the way, you just need to inform the bank before you leave the country.

With HSBC, you don’t really get noticeable international benefits if the account is opened under the Sri Lankan entity, because it still falls under Central Bank regulations. In 2022, HSBC forcefully converted my USD into LKR, but BOC didn’t.

Yes, In USA, and Singapore, some stores asked which country issued the card. The cards were activated to use in these countries and also in transit locations as well. However when I presented the HSBC card, did not get the question and I felt they are familiar with the card. In most other countries like Scandinavia this did not happen. So I thought it is better to keep an international card

I have a Standard Chartered Priority Banking debit card. With this, I can withdraw cash from any Standard Chartered ATM worldwide free of charge, and I can also access Priority Banking centers at Standard Chartered branches globally. I’m not sure if HSBC offers a similar service

DFCC is much better compare to NTB for high salary customers.
ex: NTB charge 23000/= annual fee for amex explorer with 4 free visits for airport lounges , while DFCC offer same privilege for free

And the direct cashback option for their pinnacle customers instead of points.
