This is a loop hole and this loop hole must be addressed by the Ceylon Tea board. That is why they are there and government pays their salaries.
The department of post doesn't have a role here. Every business man tries to reduce their cost and it is common sense. All the businessmen are using loop holes to reduce the costs. So when loop hole identified it must be addressed by the particular government body.
And as far as I know non of the exporters and paying any duties. So no point in there. Also it doesn't matter whether through the e-bay or Amazon or any other platform. Production must be export and dollar earning must come to Sri Lanka.
Also the tea industry is bit different. The tea planters are sending their tea to the auction and the auction winners take the particular amount of tea to their country. If this guy is sending tea readily available in Sri Lanka market that means he is not competing with the big exporters. So there s no point of stopping him.
Also if the department of post rejecting his shipments doesn't means he can be stop. There are many more cargo service providers readily available in island wide and they will take care of shipment. By rejecting this kind of business means department of post doesn't have any interest of business and profit.
