    ඇයි මෙහෙම tax payable amount එකක් එන්නෙ?
    මගෙ තියෙන්නෙ Salary and FD විතරයි(Total assessable income). ඒ දෙකටම කැපෙන්න ඕනෙ ගාන already කැපිල තියෙන්නෙ(T10 එකෙයි, WHT certificates වලයි ඒක තියෙනවා)

    කලින් අවුරුදු වලින් carry forward balance එකක් කියල දාලත් නෑ. මේක තමයි 1st year එක tax return submit කරන.

    මේ තියෙන්නෙ 2024-2025 financial year එක ගැන

    According to the calculation;
    Taxable Income = Total assessable income - Personal relief

    Tax credits = Income tax for the salary + WHT tax for the fixed deposits

    I have paid the relevant tax according to T10 and WHT certificates.
    So how can there be a difference between tax payable and tax credits?

    This is correct. WHT is deducting only 5% from your interest income. However the income tax is going up to 36%. Therefore if you have a interest income and a salary (or other) to utilise your annual allowance for the year, you should have a payable balance for sure unless otherwise paid that balance in advance from your instalments
