Just saw this infamous crucifixion scene. Seriously people ??
That was catholic ?? It wasnt a cross even.
The two prisoners had their hands locked in one form of the 'Dandukanda'. Its made to restrain the arms. The usage if this device when moving prisoners was used I believe in SL history as well as others. Considering the physical strength those two characters showed to have, its understandable that the heavy log was used to restrain the arms.

the bit with the pigs was simple ludicrous.
They used farm pigs instead of wild boars!

BTW, the fable was used here. It was made to show that the ghosts/astral bodies of kaalawela and chiththaraja took control of the pigs and made them charge the guards.

    One major issue.
The part about the 'Anjanam' using Hanumantha. Isnt this a hindu tradition ??
How is it that the Yaksha tribe has knowledge of this ?

    Just finished watching Aba.
As far as movies go, it can do with a hell of a lot of improvement. Considering the recent local cinema, this is a pretty good movie.

the film is a real bulshit machan

its not the history wht we've learn at school

So..this is not a documentary..its a movie..a movie is made according to the Director's view.. and Jackson says so himself..

In the movie "Inglorious Bastards" Hitler dies not by suicide but by getting shredded by Jew bullets in a Cinema Hall .. does that made the movie less enjoyable ? hell no.... It was one of the most enjoyable movies with Avatar in 2009...

so is Aba... Aba is still the biggest box office hit in SL to date..did people stop going to see the movie just because it may not be totaly acurate in relation to the history ?..NO..they went by 100,000s to watch it..and bet a hell of a lot enjoyed it as well..

Guys.... About the Scene that is similar to the Crucifixion of christ...

Yes..it resembles sum scenes of the Crucifixion of christ..It reminds me a bit of "Jesus of Nazareth"..the grieving crowd, the imergance of christ, the sudden rain..everything... So he has taken the influence from that movie..so what ?

Didnt the Pandithaya looked a lot like "Gandalf" from Lord of the Rings ? Hell yes he did...I saw a lot of influences of not only Jesus of Naz & LOTR..but many others when I saw the movie...

I dont see whats the fuzz is about...I too think like some other user said before me..the problem is because Jakson is a catholic & he made a movie relating to SL history/mythology better than any other budhist before him...It also did bettter than any other film before it...

So all the so called True Sinhala Budhists went "How Dare HE ??????"...

hariyatama baluwoth oka thamai case eka..

    100% agreed!
Heck I saw some scenes from Robin of Sherwood as well. :)
Does that make Aba a Norman or an English man ? :P
