No . You need not go abroad. I do not want to advertise any Uni. You can research on your own , There are online Masters level degrees. Some are sandwiched so that you may go only for a short time like two weeks or not at all. As I told you to my mind there is no expert in the field in SL so trying to learn it in SL from our lecturers are......
In any event since online is the order of the day(even for full time courses) you can try from SL. Only issue is fees are expensive . If you can afford do it as you can also earn in FC later. Some world renown Unis gave free registration too. I wish you all the best. Good decision.
UOC did not get the best due to one reason. the head of Institute of Computer Technology of UOC in 90s (later UCSC) was not an IT qualified person his Phd was statistics, he felt uncomfortable with properly qualified IT personnel. He was the head of CINTEC was the so called pioneer of IT in SL, but did more harm.
We had IT experts in Sri Lanka, long before this person entered IT field , as Kalutara Bhodi Viharaya was CAD , and entire public exam for secondary school was collated using computers in 1970s . Just two examples . These experts were sidelined and some left sl . You may see why I recommend you to get the best exposure. You may change your mind to work abroad later and you should be equipped for that now. It is your choice ! One other thing Forensic IT person needs to look outside(as WWW and connectivity Cripto, Blockchain have no boundaries, whereas Forensic Medical expert may confine to local situations only(as dead body is in Sl and murderers are also local except in rare cases)

It depend on your skills, talent, and contacts if you have any friend or relative from a high rank you can involve in serious cases but this is not official (even though you did a great job police team may get rewards )

No. Forensic Science and Medical Degree are two different things. Subjects like Anatomy and Pathology, Histology are relevant which are basic subjects in medicine. Forensic Science has lot of areas and more relevant to Science Degree specially to Chemistry. Even in Sri Lanka expert opinion on forensics is not the Doctor(unless he is specialized consultant Forensics) it is Govt Analyst (who are not doctors but chemistry hons grad). At least I know one person in SL who did Physical Sc degree and did a MSC in forensics in UK , he also did MSC in Medical College!! Medical Degree is not a must to do Forensics. Even hand writing analysis , ballistics etc have nothing to do with medicine!! So more appropriate to science grad with chemistry or related subject such as molecular biology (dna profile )
In any event Forensic Medicine/Science is not Forensic IT there is Forensic Accounting too!! CB recently did Forensic Accounting spending millions of rupees but this reports are just gathering dust!!

If you want to do forensic medicine as a post graduate in Sri Lanka you must have MBBS because basically it’s a sub speciality in medicine. But forensic science is a vast field. There must be many other forensic paths which doesn’t involve basic medicine degree….

If you still interesting in Digital Forensics, here is the best path,

1. CEH (Theory + Practical) then you will be awarded CEH Master (I passed both exams)

2. CHFI (Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator) I'll be doing an exam next week

Before you need go into Cyber Forensics you need to have the good sound of Cyber Security.

Also if you want to do your masters in Forensics, you have the following option,

IIT MSc in Cyber Security specialized in Forensics (I started this)

I'm not interested in Medical Forensics. But I'm interested in Criminal Investigation and Psychology. After my MSc, I'm doing those. As I know that training is only available for Low Enforcement personnel.

But from the job perspective, there are not many Cyber Forensics jobs in SL (there will be fewer opportunities in the Security Operations Center SOC Forensics positions - but I never saw them in SL). In SL that certification is added advantage for interviews. But overseas, you will have opportunities.

Ps - This is my personal view. Since I want to specialize in Forensics, I'm following this path.
