Yes mainly to balance the budget,other than that bond issues or repurchases are used as means of forex rate manipulation

treasury bonds වල කාලෙත් අවුරුදු 20ක් 30ක් වගේ තමා වෙන්නෙ. ඔය බැංකු වලිං ණය ගන්නව කියන එකෙං අදහස් කරන්නෙ ඒව ලංකාවෙ ආණ්ඩුවෙන් t bonds ගන්න එකද කියලයි දැනගන්න ඕනෙ



loans in the sense that sl government presents a collateral in case they wouldnt be able to pay it in time ?
afaik governments all around the globe issue treasuries when they need money to start a new project or something. people can buy those treasuries which come attached with a time period and an interest rate and those who bought them get paid that interest and receive the price of that treasury from the government at the end of that time period.
could this be how sl government gets money from banks for its development projects ?
is this what loans mean in the context of politics ?
or is there some other way ?
this is what I want to know. hope someone who did macroeconomics would answer

ණය ගන්න මුලින්ම ලෝන් ඇප්ලිකේෂන් එකක් දාන්න ඕනෙ. ඒකෙ ඇපයට තියන දේපල, ලෝන් එක ලබා ගන්න එකවුන්ට් එක වගේ දේවල් දානව.

so a government wouldn't normally issue bonds to fund constructions and similar things right ?

In our case it's less likely as our interest rate is pretty darn high compared to rates given by world band, IMF, etc.

Loan amount is also a deciding factor. Government can sell bonds to fund a small scale housing project as it won't have a high interest burden.
