Correct.. We had the same problem . We had bulbs lit all day. Didn't work. They climb up the trees near the roof. Then we pruned the branches. Then I noticed that they can climb up the drain pipes.
The only way is to block all access to the ceiling. We did that after we got a stinking smell one day. One of then died up in the ceiling.. nearly the size of a pig. After blocking every possible entry, no problems. They now run on the roof but cannot get inside.
