NO ban you do not have to turn your air conditioning off before turning off your vehicle. Turning off the AC abruptly is unlikely to harm the AC system in modern vehicl

    Chatgpt

It's generally recommended to turn off the AC before turning off the car engine. This practice helps avoid potential strain on the vehicle's battery and compressor when you start the car again. Here's why:

    1. Compressor Load: When you start the car with the AC already on, the engine has to power the compressor right from the start, which can put additional load on the engine and battery.
    2. Battery Life: Turning off the AC first reduces the electrical load, which can help prolong the battery's life.
    3. Moisture and Odor Prevention: Turning off the AC before the engine can also help dry out the evaporator, preventing moisture buildup, which may otherwise lead to musty odors inside the vehicle.
For optimal care, it's best to turn off the AC, then turn off the engine.

Not really "necessary" but your evaporator will last longer if you do it - replacing the evaporator on most modern cars is a PITA, you have to dismantle the dashboard to get to it

    5PkBGb6.jpeg

But you have to keep the blower running or it wouldn't make a difference - what I do is turn off the AC with about 5 minutes to go until I reach my destination.

Refer to the images I've attached above - some car manufacturers have made running the blower motor with AC OFF to dry up the evaporator a feature

Some LG home air conditioners have the same feature similar to this 'vlolvo afterblow' where the fan continues to run for about half an hour after the air conditioner is turned off to remove any remaining moisture inside.

So based on all the information presented, we can confidently say that it is indeed a beneficial practice to run the blower and engine for a brief period after turning the AC OFF in order to dry out the evaporator and prevent mold and corrosion, right @KDH? @hasithayad? @topkollek?
