I agree that running the blowerfan can help reduce odors and harmful microorganisms, but I’m not sure it will make the evaporator or other air conditioning parts last longer. running the blowerfan for extra time could actually shorten its lifespan, and replacing it is a PITA because it required to take out the dashboard. also, it could drain the battery since the alternator is no longer running and the blowerfan is completely running on the battery.

You misunderstand. The advice is to switch off the AC approximately 5 minutes before you reach your intended location, with the blower running.
Doesn't matter the order but turn off your ac before you leave the vehicle if you have a decades old vehicle. It becomes much more forgiving on battery and starter motor when you are turning on the engine next time. You do not have to do this if you don't have an extremely old vehicle.

You have a point. but from what I know, evaporators are made from materials like aluminum. according to chatGPT, some evaporators also have special coatings to protect against corrosion, moisture and refrigerants. So, I don't think turning off the AC for 5 minutes would make much of a difference.
based on your screenshot, the volvo afterblow function runs the fan for about 30-40 minutes. my LG AC also takes 30 minutes to complete its drying process. do you really think just 5 minutes will be enough?
Nah water does accelerate corrosion, that's one reason radiators made out of aluminium require coolant that contain anti-corrosion inhibitors instead of water even in tropical climates

Read again, it says the blower kicks in 30-40 minutes AFTER shutting down the engine, not that the fans run for 30-40 minutes
