-Mount Sinabung erupts in Indonesia-
Mount Sinabung, one of Indonesia’s many volcanoes, has been especially active over the past two weeks, spewing gas and ash. This is a concern for many local villagers in the surrounding area, who depend on the land for their livelihood.
Mount Sinabung awoke in 2010 after lying dormant for nearly four centuries; over the past five years, its eruptions have caused several deaths, and forced villagers to repeatedly evacuate their homes. Although the volcano's recent spate of activity hasn’t caused any injuries yet, 10,000 nearby villagers have already evacuated the region.
