I believe in Christian church, there's a registration process - maybe someone can clarify

The robe depicts something; humbleness or so..

Did Buddha have a Temple to begin with..?

Buddhism is not for believers, it's not a faith-based idolatry religion.

    Buddhism is based on
" Why beings suffer and how to attain the liberation from suffering "
And Lord buddah has shown a path based on - causality.

Every other religion ever to originate on this earth has teached " if you want to get a blissful life with no suffering, even after your death - you follow what I've preached "

That's why some people blast 💣 themselves to attain that so called " BLISS " 🙂

That's faith. You can't interrogate the authenticity of path particular religion has shown.

But in Buddhism - it's simple.

Buddah did not teach to mitigate the "suffering"
He showed how to get rid of "entirely" by not incarnating , not conceive ever in this "sansara".

You can see the path, you can interrogate the path, you can criticize the path but buddah said,

Come experience this, follow the path I've shown by yourself, do not even believe my own words,
If it works for you, so let it be
    Otherwise do not

    It's not faith - it's a self experiment.

That's how Buddhism contrast to other faith based religions.

Yeezus, Yeezus, Yeezus say Yes if you agree that anyone should be able to wear an un-patented saffron robe, on their way to finding salvation..

saffron is just for the ease to follow the path
To a certain extent, you can come along this path without wearing a saffron ( sothapanna - stream enterer )

Saffon was here on earth long before buddah.
It's the someone's path, what they practice, believes in ; really embody a true Buddhist.
