ඉණ බැඳ ගත් තම්මැට්ටම් නද දෙන්නේ තම්මැට්ටම් කඩිප්පු යුගල ආධාරයෙනි. නියඳ හෝ රෙදි පටියෙන් හෝ තම්මැට්ටම් ඉණට බැඳ ගත් විට දෑත් හා දෙපා නිදහස් ය.
එසේම කඩිප්පු යුගල ආධාරයෙන් අත් වළලුකර නවා ජව වේගයෙන් රිද්මයානුකූල ලෙස තම්මැට්ටම් වාදනය කිරීම පහසු ය. සුදු පැහැ හා රක්ත වර්ණයෙන් යුතු රංග වස්ත්රාභරණ ද සැහැල්ලු ලෙස තනා තිබේ.
දළදා මාළිගාවේ තම්මැට්ටම් වාදනය ශිල්ප පරම්පරා කිහිපයකට අයත් වූවකි. හේවාවිස්ස, යකාවෙල. ඇරැව්වාවල, උඩුනුවර, සහ රිදීගම යන ශිල්ප පරම්පරා තම්මැට්ටම් වාද්යකරුවෝ ලෙස කිත් පැසසුම් ලබන්නෝ ය.
Thammattam Players..
The Drum tied round the waist produces the rhythm by being beaten with two sticks. The hands and feet are free for them to dance and play the drum easily. Their costumes are made of white and red cloth.
Playing Thammattam in the Dalada temple belongs to several generations. The artistes from Hewawissa, Yakawela, Arawwala, Udunuwara and Rideegama have been honored and praised for their skill in the art.
