නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ රුපියල් මිලියන 2200 ක්

2018 පොදුරාජ්‍ය මණ්ඩල ක්‍රීඩා උළෙල පවත්වන රට පිළිබඳව තීරණය කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් පැවති ඡන්ද විමසීමේ ජයග්‍රහණය වැඩි ජන්ද 16 ක් ලබාගනිමින් ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාවේ ගෝල්ඩ් කෝස්ට් නගරයට හිමිවිය. ඡන්දය ප්‍රකාශ කිරීම සඳහා රටවල් 71 ක් සුදුසුකම් ලබා ඇති අතර තරගාවලි‍ය පැවැත්වීමේ අයිතිය හිමිකරගැනිම සඳහා ඡන්ද 36 ක් ලබාගත යුතුව තිබිණි.‍ ඒ අනුව ඡන්ද විමසීමේ දී ගෝල්ඩ් කොස්ට් ඡන්ද 43 ක් ද, හම්බන්තොට ඡන්ද 27 ක් ද ලබා තිබේ.


අප විසින් මෙයට පෙර සඳහන් කල පරිදි මෙවන් උත්සවයක් ලංකාවේ පැවැත්වීම මගින් ලංකාවට ලාභ ප්‍රයෝජන ගත හැකි නමුත් හම්බන්තොට
2018 යෝජනාව ඉදිරිපත් කල අවස්ථාවේ සිට ජන්ද විමසිම දක්වා අදාළ නිලධාරින් සිදු කලේ සිය පසුම්බිය තර කරගැනීමය.
ඔස්ට්‍රේලියාව පොදුරාජ්‍ය මණ්ඩලීය ක්‍රීඩා උත්සවය ගෝල්ඩ් කෝස්ට් නගරයෙහි පැවැත්වීම සඳහා සිය වැඩකටයුතු ඇරඹුවේ 2010 දිල්ලි වල පැවති ක්‍රීඩා උත්සවය නිමා වීමත් සමගය. ඔවුන් ඒ පිලිබඳ ප්‍රබල ප්‍රචාරණයක් ගෙන ගිය අතර ඔවුන්ට එම කටයුතු මදකට නතරකරන්න සිදු වුයේ මුහුණ පෑමට සිදු වූ ස්වභාවික විපත් හේතුවෙනි.මේ අතර තුර හම්බන්තොට 2018 සැලැස්ම එලි දුටු අතර එය


රටවල් වලට ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට පෙර සිටම රටවල් 71 න 42 ක් ම කැමැත්ත පලකොට තිබුනේ ගෝල්ඩ් කෝස්ට් නගරය සඳහායි.
කෙසේනමුත් හම්බන්තොට 2018 යෝජනාව මගින් නිලධාරීන්ට රට සවාරි ගැසීමටත් රටේ මුදල් ලක්ෂ ගණනක් අපතේ යාම නම් සිදුවිය.

It is commendable to at least secure 27 votes against Australia's much favoured tourist destination Gold Coast. Last time when we wend for a poll in commonwealth (for the post of Sec Gen- late Mr Kadiragarmar as the nominee) could not muster even 10 votes . We know the credentials of late Mr Kadiragarmer was no match to his rival , but we lost miserably. The lesson is it is not the city Hambantota Vs Gold Coast, but rather SL diplomacy Vs Australian. We know that Australians played dirty at the end fearing loosing at the last minute, but even without that effort they would have won hands down- the results speaks for itself.
Money needs to be spent for such an event, quite apart from the deposit money which is forfitted . Did we have a budjet or a clear road map or our foreign service was adequately utilised. I do not thik we did and if we did we would have won. News medis including BBC, branded the city as a place devastated by Tsunami , did we counter this or thought about it before naming it Hambantota instead of the place of the town. I think we learn lot of lessons but it seems that lot of money was wasted specially considering the number of the contingent which included the reigning Miss Sl and another ex- miss sl who could not do much to obtain a single vote or understand the diplomacy and they were not world renown or even glamorous !(may be for some other reason) and the most of the contingent had a good time at the cost of the tax payer. So, next time there will be a larger contingent and larger waste , who is going to question that.
