they are aided by christian charities and they have christian books but no one aboard the ship even mentioned any religion even remotely.
Also they had many non religious books as well.
I seriously doubt they do any lawful or unlawful conversions.
M christian by birth man....I know more about them than you...so believe what you want to believe....this ship came to colombo in 1995 too....It was called LOGOS back then....Then they changed the name due to a controversy regarding unethical conversions....I didnt say that ppl in the ship did conversions...Their parent organisation is very much involved in it...

Last Saturday Christian leaders from all over London gathered aboard the Logos Hope, a ship which sails the seven seas with the express aim of bringing education, knowledge and hope to the ports of the world.
The ship, which is the largest ever owned by mission organisation OM Ships International is visiting London. Upon its arrival on 12 June the ship sent out 250 crew members on five double decker buses to pray throughout the city.
On Saturday Christian leaders and partners of OM were invited about the ship to hear about the ship and its vision.
The gathering highlighted the mission of the ship to spread both the Christian message of hope and to provide education for those who need it.
The meeting was attended by Nims Obunge, head of the Peace Alliance, who praised the work of the Logos Hope saying, “I came on this ship in Denmark and I was just blown away … by meeting the people who were passionate … about just serving God. I wanted this to come to London.”
George Verwer, the founder of OM spoke at the event saying, “I believe we make a great mistake if you think you’re going to Christianise London and Christianise Great Britain, because you cannot find a single scripture about that – We are called to evangelise the world!”
“We get caught up with nationalism … We’ve got more concern for our nation – even though parts of it we actually hate – instead of going back to the basics of God’s word – go into the world and preach the Gospel to every person. And here’s encouraging news… we can do both!”

Once upon a time when i was young & was attending sunday school(before I gave up christianism that is) they used to mention about this ship during classes saying that they r doing a great service by "spreading Gods word to non believers" and "Bringing salvation" to the masses
No one was teaching us about it being a floating library & all...their prime goal is something else than being just an innocent trip docking on ports to sell books

they didnt rename the ship, Logos is one ship, Logos Hope is another ship. There's a third with another name.
Their parent organization maybe doing conversions at gun point even but no such thing occurred at the time I visited the ship.

Christian Missionaries
Knowing that a ship named Logos Hope with full of books with 400 salesman in it is anchored at Dubai port, I went there to buy some books. To my surprise I found the books mainly are Bibles only. Some fiction of unknown authorsClassics 10 books, biography 15 books of unknown people. Spiritual books and bible most of them in all Indian languages, and some children's comic books. Only 4 sales man attending. I wondered where are these 400 salesmen and asked I wanted to see those people and visit the decks,may be more books in upper decks - they did not allow me. I ask more details and someone outsider confidentially told me the ship is a missionary ship and 400 salesmen are missionaries enroute to India carrying thousands of Bible books in all Indian languages.The books are priced in Indian rupee equivalent rates and the sales of the books in Dubai is an eye wash. The ship is scheduled to travel to India on 5th Feb 2011 with 400 missionaries to be scattered all over India for months of staying and converting people and they are having tourist visas. Madam Sonia's hidden agenda is working in full force.
Going on chest beating by Hindus has no use. This ship has to stopped from anchoring in any Indian ports. Sangh parivar organizations should organize protests, if necessary violently, along with this ship's routes then only future missionaries will hesitate to come to convert Hindus only to make India a Christian state. Othewise I wonder why we need such Sangh Parivar organizations if they dont take any action to protect Hindu religion. Prevention is better than cure, when they will realize the truth.

they bought another ship & replaced it in 2005.Just because nothing happened when you were aboard doesn't mean nothing won't happen.
I posted this as a responsible citizen of this country who is against any forcible conversions to any religion.So its upto each individual to be intelligent & act accordingly

not in SL unfortunately....No proof till now..but i remember in 1995 when the ship docked in Colombo the last time..few of my friends had visited it...when they purchased some selected books..they were given a small magazine called TOPZ for free....TOPZ is a christian magazine published each month for kids

You do realize that the First Lady officially opened the exhibition this time around ? You dont think the Buddhist ministry and the monks wont kick a fuss about this if there's anything like that involved ?
These are same the guys who cancelled Akon's visas for a music video that he only guest appeared in. Surely they'd get the govt, to throw the ship back to sea on the first such rumor ?
Besides, the ship is scheduled to visit Galle and Hambantota next, the back yard of the big guy himself.
The ship was here in India last weeks man..There were protests by Shiv sena & MNS about its arrival.THey have a spine to stand for what they believe unlike Srilankans whom you can shut off with a pile of dollars.

According to your argument...what has the Budhist ministry or the monks you've mentioned & the big guy has done to ban organisations like Worldvision,Pentecostal church,Jehovas witness & assembly of god who convert innocent poor ppl in broad daylight in the Big mans district itself & his nephews district in Moneragala??

the political backlash of the prez or First Lady officiating an entity known to do illegal conversions is large enough for the president to take notice. So while these guy maybe doing conversions elsewhere, I doubt they'll do it while they stay here.
I maybe wrong ofcause and they could've paid off everyone, including the prez, monks and jvp.

I think you need to figure out what illegal conversion and legal conversion is before arguing. Everyone is free to follow any religion they want. You said you no longer follow Christianity so you've now converted to another religion. By your standards, the new religion you follow will have to be then banned as well.
dude...they dnt necessarily have to push anything in the exibition...These ppl r much more organised than that...read the comment i posted earlier by Mr Nambiar about what he got to know when the ship docked in Dubai...They transport missionaries from country to country & let them enter the country during the trip to carry on with their sinister work
Otherwise why do you think they spend so much money & resources to send a ship across the globe to sell sm books..?? how much will they make by selling some books compared to the huge cost of running a ship with current fuel costs around the world??
not following christianity doesn not neccesrily mean that i have to convert to another religion.Its my presonal preference that i dnt need to cling on to any religion.FYI i'm non religious right now.So try banning aethism
