I started hating doctors because I once dated a medical student. She didn’t have a license to prescribe medicine yet. But she had a prescription pad and a seal she used to get basic meds for things like colds or headaches.
I have had anxiety and depression since I was little and she gave me alprazolam. She never told me it could be addictive. I took one pill and it felt amazing. She also gave me fluoxetine.
Eventually I started taking alprazolam whenever I felt like it. Morning/ afternoon and night. It became a habit. Still she didn’t warn me about the risks. I honestly thought I had found the perfect medicine.
I used alprazolam for about three months. It made me feel calm and more social. Then one day I got curious and started reading about the drugs online and that is when I learned how dangerous it could be in long term.
When I asked her about it she said it was fine and I could just slowly taper off. After that long story short I ended up using clonazepam/ diazepam and gabapentin again all through her.
Since then I have been hooked on those medications. And now, I am dealing with psychosis/ physical dependence/ memory loss/ reduced alertness and emotional numbness. Sometimes I wonder if she did it on purpose. I think she was manipulative.
I learned about medications because of that messed up experience. Even now she denies that she got me hooked on these hard drugs. She is still not legally qualified to prescribe medication but I keep getting refills from her. I even asked for some Ritalin and she wrote it to me without any hesitation.
She is still in university by the way just so you know.
I am sorry!!
