i believe sri lanka belongs to sinhala people. tamils muslims Mongolians Argentinians and all the others are immigrants.
we are losing our ground as sinhalese. nationalist movement is the only thing fighting to preserve what's left of it.

btw my own sister is migrating to the US next month to do her phd in molecular biology and genetics so i've got no problem about Nalin de Silva having sent his kids to US

okay i have a very long answer for this but let me put it in a simple way..

I for one don't believe Sri Lanka is a pluralistic society. Just like japan a Japanese state Sri Lanka is a sinhala state. Tamils, Muslims Chinese Mongolians South Africans brazilians all of them are immigrants. When you migrate to another country and decide to live there for the rest of your life you don't demand self governance. Rather you try to absorb yourself into the dominant culture in your host country. In one or two generations your grandchildren will be fully absorbed into host country and indistinguishable from host people albeit skin color. The problem in Sri Lanka is Tamils and Muslims not being absorbed into mainstream sinhala culture. The only way to solve this problem in my view is to populate, infiltrate Sinhala families in to Tamil / Muslim dominated regions and thin out their dominance.
The false notion that Sri Lanka is pluralistic needs to be demolished!

that's exactly what's happening with tamils and muslims. they lived their lives peacefully and we had no issue. some actually got absorbed into mainstream sinhala culture and became sinhalese over the cource of time. there's evidence for that. now they want self governance and separatism.

what do you think are the problems tamils in SL are facing just because they are tamils?
do they have to wait in long lists to get electricity? to send their kids to schools?
is there any form of discrimination in getting a job for a tamil? university entrance? there's none!
they can study in their own language. even almost all government forms are issue both in tamil and sinhala. they have their own radio and tv stations.

do they air sinhala or french or german tv channels in UK?

When did i say that i agree with separatists?

Separatism is not only a problem faced by Sinhalese. it is a threat to all Sri lankans........so called "nationalists" are only reinforcing those separatist claims.

when you say tamils are immigrants that only helps the separatist argument that Sinhalese are racists and they need their own country.

if you are really against separatism you should accept that all srilankans have equal right to this country and you are willing to accept them as fellow citizens without discrimination.
