The United States has urged Sri Lanka to act according to the Constitution and also uphold the commitments made in Geneva.

The US State Department said that it was following the events in Sri Lanka after Ranil Wickremesinghe was sacked as Prime Minister.

“We call on all parties to act in accordance with SL’s constitution, refrain from violence, and follow due process,” the US State Department said.

It said that the US also expects Sri Lanka to uphold its Geneva commitments to human rights, reform, accountability, justice, and reconciliation. (Colombo Gazette)
