I've heard that they're trying to stretch the railway to Nuwara Eliya. Thank you. as a Nuwara Eliya guy, this would benefit me! But I'm not supportive of that project. The main reason is that still the railway is a loss making endless pit. As software developers, we learned that before going to a bigger project, you need a minimal but working prototype that could have extendability. This methodology ensures that you always have a presentable item. So firstly, those going for stretching the railway need to prove that it is profitable! Then it can invest in much bigger plans. Sadly, bloody big head Jeppos can't perceive those little titbits but have bigotry than realistic, achievable plans. Good luck, Sri Lanka.

For Nuwaraeliya Line
they are still considering it,
possibly with Private Sector involvement

For Kelani Valley Line they plan to do two Extension till Ratnapura with the government Funding.

Real Benefit here is much less compared to improving Main Line and Coastal Line.

Those two need much improvement in Station Network and separate line extensions to avoid congestion at office hours.

But Jepi Government pick the least money making option to continue.
I wonder how this is turn out in future.

Get your facts straight man... They are not going to spend public funds for this... They are inviting private sector to develop railway stretch from Nanuoya to NEliya as a tourist attraction...
