Shewag could have hit a 6 or a 4 at the last ball. As a bowler, Randiv has a responsibility to minimize the score of the opposition. By bowling a deliberate no-ball, he managed to arrange things so that India ended up scoring only one run more than SL. Had Shewag managed to hit a six, India would have scored 5 runs more. Personal records are not important here.

Cricket laws state that the spirit of the game should be upheld no matter what. If what Randiv did affected the spirit of the game, it should be considered as wrong. But I don't think that Personal records should be taken into consideration.

A question for those who think that what he did was wrong-

What if Randiv had delivered a very wide delivery on the off side? Shewag had to come down the track and try to hit it to get his run. If he misses, he'll be stumped. If he doesn't come down the track, he still cannot get his run and end up in 99. Randiv can always argue that he tried to get the batsman out.

My point is, this is not that clear cut. There's nothing technically wrong in what he did.

But those six runs was not count becuase form the extrea run of the no ball, India had already won... shewag bat ekath ussala pada daannath gaththa shot eka gahala, but the umpire signaled it no-ball, and the screen in the ground showed Shewag not out 99* India have won the match.. after seeing that... porage muna ඇඹුල් wela giya..
