For NISSAN owners, from me
How to read NISSAN check engine / error codes without a scanner.
Steps:
1. Turn ignition ON.
2. Wait 3 seconds.
3. Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
Do 3,4 steps 5 times within 5 seconds.
5. Wait approximately 7 seconds.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal until the check engine / MIL turn off and start blinking.
Debug error code: 1 time flash = 1 and 10 times flash means 0. Code starts with slow blinks and ends with fast blinks and each code has 4 variations of blinking speeds.
In this example we have P0100, P0110, P0135 and P155
P0100 - Mass Air Flow Circuit Malfunction
P0110 - Intake Air Temperature Circuit Malfunction
Are logged as a result of disconnected MAF sensor and,
P0135 - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1)
P0155 - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2)
Are logged as a result of disconnected O2 sensors.
At this point, if you hold down the accelerator pedal for approximately 10 seconds until the check engine light start blinking slowly, ECU will clear the all logged codes.
