These are written by Chandana Mendis himself,heard he got the right of using name Sherlock in SL.(but i don't think so ,anyone can use it now since it's older than 50yrs)
Even though it's not original,it has the same taste of Sir Arther's books which are translated by Mr Mendis

The 50 years law doesnt apply here as there is a Arthur Conan Doyle Foundation that owns all the copyrights to his works. So anyone wants to use SH name has to get permission from them first. So most likely that Mr. Mendis really did get permission to use the name.
Though I'm wondering about the quality of the work. Sir Doyle lived in the time period he based his SH novels and actually lived in England. His level of knowledge of the Victorian era and the live style of the people cannot be gained by reading about it.

Ah..Then it may be true!
I think Mr Mendis tried at his best to reach the level of the original creation.
I read the first half of the new book, Mendis is trying to match the real SH by using various chemical tests such as making Phenol using Benzene etc and letting us know train schedules etc.
But readers don't care about those things,isn't it?Most important is the plot and curiosity through out the story which sir Doyle manage to do so well.
