Q) Do you prefer to live in a communist or a capitalist country?
A)
Romania until 1989 | Political system: communist | Dictator: Nicolae Ceausescu.
Electricity? We had electricity only for like 12 hours a day - from 08:00 to 20:00. Sometimes even less.
Media? We had like only 4 hours of program on TV, and it started with Ceausescu and ended with him as well.
Money? Everybody had money, but money had no value. They were worthless paper. Everywhere you went, for any service, the real currency was liquor, meat, cigarettes, eggs, cheese, juice or fruits.
Bread? We were sitting like 4 hours in line for a piece of bread in midday at 35 degrees Celsius.
Milk? We were sitting like 3 hours in the morning - from 4 AM to 7 AM - for a glass of milk that turned green after 10 hours in the open.
Meat? Same story: when there was meat for sale, 3 or 4 hours in midday. And people often quarreled (like animals) while waiting in line; because some of them tried to cheat.
Fruits and vegetables? Local fruits only when we received from our grandparents who lived at the countryside, while exotic fruits - such as bananas or oranges - maybe a few at Christmas.
Cars? Only the ones in national production and you had to wait like 2 years in line until you got one; the members of the communist party had priority.
Homes? Everyone had apartments in flats that looked like grey matchboxes.
Hospitals? Medicines? You better hopped you never have to go there.
Eulogies to the party and the leader? Never enough.
And do you know what is the worst part? There are still idiots in Romania - and I’m sure in the other ex-communist countries as well - who are nostalgic about those times.
I spit on communism and on everyone that supports it in any way!!!!!
So, my choice is obvious.
