I think it is the ideal.12000 btu is recommeded upto 400 Sq on all websites even in hot summers. In lanka they always overrate than ideal.
definitely not for SL..anything over 15 x 15 and a high ceiling deserves an 18K in most cases.

No bn it's what all sales persons want.to sell you a higher btu so the sale margin is big.Sl is not so a hot country.Even my aero turns to fan mode after 15min.short cycling is also energy wasting

I'm also looking for an A/C . But I have no idea about how to choose.
    Room is 140 sq ft
Might be switched on for like 10-15 hours a day.
    Please suggest me one

I checked. I don't have any idea about what's BTU and stuff.
Since I don't have an idea I just went to Abans site and checked. Seems like 1200 BTU is enough for my case.
Just don't have idea on what are the other factors should be consicered

in your case, I think 12k would be more than enough, probably even a 9k.
Ask abans or damro to confirm the appropriate BTU level for your room. they'll send over someone to check.
