Kodak is the main player in digital photography before 1998. But then Nikon released its first DSLR for professional within five times less price and with out bulky design that Kodak DSLRs had. Next year canon joint to party and then it's end of Kodak. Kodak fail because they thinks they have monopoly of digital sensors but old professionals are distorted it. Fabrication is the most difficult part of sensors. Nikon tries many fabricators for get started it's digital sensors but most of them refused to fight with Kodak. Nikon started release it's consumer camera in 96 it is noticed but not considered by Kodak. Then Nikon started entering professional photography it is the end of Kodak domination. It is the blowe that started downfall of Kodak as a digital camera maker.

The sad truth. As somebody put it - "Whenever you have a monopoly, you get fat, dumb, lazy, and un-innovative."

FujiFilm OTOH diversified and even today they are in existence. They did quite well with the X100. Even during COVID years, Fujifilm doubled down on antiviral pills and vaccine operations, but now the cameras have put it back into the spotlight.
