Dune first one & Blade Runner 2049 by the same director are some of the most beautiful & visually stunning movies I've seen

It was a shame they dropped the word jihad in the adaptation. Obviously to circumvent the bad political connotation…but it’s a beautiful piece of language. Sounds cooler than holy war and adds vigour to Muaddib’s predicament.

I could never get in to Dune the book. Started a couple of times but DNF. Same with LOTR.. love the 2 movies though

Was it Herbert's long winded expository prose? He relies very little on dialogues. Incidentally, one of the reasons why Dune is considered unadaptable (which I don’t think it is).
