The Akuressa Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society (MPCS) has initiated the construction of a five-story hospital at a cost of Rs. 170 million in Akuressa. The foundation stone was laid by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) MP Vijitha Herath.

Speaking at the event, Herath emphasized that even a bankrupt country can be rebuilt to provide superior services and earn profits with the right leadership, vision, and unity.

He noted that the Akuressa Cooperative Society is setting an example with this endeavor.

“The National People’s Power is similarly capable of rebuilding the nation with the support of citizens who have the talent and commitment to do so,” Herath said.

The event was attended by officials from the Cooperative Development Commission, government officials, medical professionals, members of the Akuressa business community, and a large number of local residents.
