Have a Meaningful Day.........
The question is, what is a quality life, a quality day? Isn’t it pretty much the same for everyone regardless of ability? From research and common sense the following foundations of quality have been identified.....
Having something meaningful to do
Having friends
Being loved
Being welcomed into the life of the community
Having control over your life
And doing it as well as you can
Taking pride in work or contributions, an activity
identity
And being a friend
And loving others
And welcoming others into your own life
And sharing control with those you trust
See how “having something meaningful to do” is first on the list! Every person needs an important role and has to believe they contribute something of value to their families, friends and community. One of the greatest needs we all have is to be of help to others, to contribute our gifts, to make a difference and to give something back for all wehavereceived. As an example, consider how great a part work plays in our society today. We’re not talking just money here – we’re talking doing something of value. The first thing people usually ask each other upon meeting is “What do you do?” Ask yourself how much your job (or being able to prove mastery of a particular skill) counts in your own sense of worth and self-esteem. Now you might have the answer for everyone. Individuals with disabilities need to be seen as important, valued contributors to community life.
I Wish you to have a Nice Day My Friends.......
