finished reading the first book, a game of thrones

awesome! you get to interpret the characters your own way, so much more insight into everything..

it's a book you don't feel like putting down once you've picked it up.

can't wait to read the second one.

That's why books are a thousand times better than visual entertainment.

    Specially this one.

it's a good book mate, but wouldn't even be on the list of best 20 books I've read :D

it is a great read though.. not only is the prose beautiful, but the author has provided more than enough info into each character to build it up.

    It does in mine :P
That much character development & plot build up is really rare to find.
You'll understand it when you advance into the other books.

    name a couple :D
Although I only read novella. Mainly fiction

heart of darkness (probably my all time fav)
    of mice and men
    old man and the sea
    Fahrenheit 451
    Animal farm
    to the lighthouse
    the catcher in the rye

some off the top of my head, not sure about the rest, but catcher in the rye, animal farm are two books any person should've read

ps; can't believe I'd forgotten slaughterhouse five and do android dream of electric sheep :sorry:

Your taste definitely differs from mine. :D

Almost all the books you've mentioned are historical fiction or about the meaning of life in different point of views.

I have read the sinhalese translation of the Old Man & the Sea when I was little. Really good.
Haven't you read Maxim Gorkey, Leo Tolstoy & Anton Chekovs books?
They are revolutionary and really good too. Of course almost all of their books centers around Soviet Russia & the working people.

I mostly read fantasy now. Because it creates a whole different world to live in. If not fantasy then surely something I'm excited & dream about.

I think I'm goona read Mario Puzo next.
    His books are great.
Then maybe tolkien. Given that I buy the paperbacks. Not gonna enjoy reading E books.

And check out Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher saga if you are into that.
There ain't a proper english traslation. Specially for the later books in the series but the sieries is really great.
I mean I love the game wholeheartedly and the books suited me very well too.

But it's no doubt your taste differs from mine :P

yeah I guess so, I've been into lot of existentialist literature lately, Henry Millers books..what I expect to find in books certainly differs from yours :P:P

I've read 'amma' from Gorky and something else too which I can't remember, and felt as exactly the same as what I felt for books like 'peralu nawum pasa' or 'waane pannaraya labu hati' ..

Tolstoy is somebody I'm willing to read and kept putting off for years lol..I guess after reading Anna Karenina, I was sorta reluctant to chew through dense paragraphs :sorry:

but russians can certainly write I can tell you..

I'm a huge Dostoevsky fan :):) which is why I love russian lit..and grew up reading russian fairy tales

next russian book i wanna read is Gogols dead souls :D:D

at least we have one thing in common lolz, I too hate ebooks, i need the paperback If I'm to read :)

if you like sci fi, you should give pilip k dick a chance..many of his work has been adapted into well known films

blade runner - do androids dream of electric sheep
    minority report
    pay check
    a scanner darkly..etc
