Atomoxetine - Generally marketed as Strattera - is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), and is non-addictive. These work on neurotransmitters, or the chemical messengers, that are known to affect mood by stopping serotonin and norepinephrine from going back into the cells that released them.

To partially answer your question if one drug is not effective then there are several other alternatives and also combinations of two drugs.

The level of ADHD is best determined not by novices, but by medical professionals with rating and psychological tests.

I am not going to mention any drug regimes here for obvious reasons. These are not vitamins to play with. Also ADHD has be properly diagnosed as there are other mental conditions that closely resemble ADHD. So please consult proper medical help and do stay with one doctor. ADHD cannot be cured overnight and for some, it's a lifelong condition that's got to be managed along with the doctor. There's no one hat fits everyone approach to ADHD.

Also note that there can be undesirable side effects of these medications that needs careful monitoring of the patient.

    ADHD / autism kiyanne dekakkda.
They are two different conditions. But they can share the same symptoms. In fact, quite often ADHD & Autism coincides. So there's an overlap. That's why I wrote earlier leave the diagnostics to the professionals as it's hard to distinguish between the two. There are differences and sometimes a person could have both conditions simultaneously.
It's now known that both ADHD & Autism is linked to a gene known as the MAP1A gene. This gene is involved in the formation of the physical structure of nerve cells, and involved with brain development.

That's the forte of an experienced psychiatrist. They have quizzes, questionnaires, self assessments and signs that could identify the condition with their experience. That's their job. It's difficult to identify and also to treat. What works for one person does not work for another. :(
Some even do not use this term. (high functioning depression)
