Actually landing and filing in the flight plan as the en-route alternate are two different things.
BIA is not qualified as an A380 landing strip.
If an A380 were to make a landing at BIA they have to keep their outer most engines at idle power.. and there are many more restrictions. the only A380 capable airport for the indian ocean flight routes is Mattala.
Not a single A380 was allowed to fly in this region before mattala. that's a fact
the fact that A380s fly over our FIR is proof that mattala is making profits in terms of overflying revenue
