Well, clam down... some of these people are under a lot of pressure.. I know there are some people who ate two meals a day now eating one to educate children.. requesting aid from churches, some selling their religion to eat...
The worst part is these children feel it... now everything on top, its the internet problem so some people don't know who to blame... these people just bash out on the only thing that doesn't fight back... the country... they feel... left out, and no one to blame... We must try to fix these problems... they are already upset... don't try to provoke them. I feel for this country more than anyone as a direct decedent of Puran-Appu. But remember this is just statements on the internet... we need to stop this from coming out in real life... Imagine a country were people just blame the country openly... We are just a step away from being Egypt..
Leased lines are way to expensive in Sri Lanka. Just check the price of a Cisco router + power consumption. Remember, the country is in a financial crisis... some companies as in places where they run a small business cannot afford such expensive facilities. Internet is over priced... its like blackmailing people... this is a problem with a solution! And it is nothing to do with people.

They currently don't have FUP... but they might discuses one in the near future... I contacted a Tech at LankaBell... he said, there is no official statement from anyone... and currently they don't need a FUP... but they might put one if it is required. Because they have to maintain speeds.
Btw. One more thing, the tech said that they might increase the price to provide real unlimited Broadband... So the say "Every cloud has a silver lining", Lankabell might just be that Silver lining, but however, will the price increase be affordable? that's another problem...

if u are blacklisted by SLT, visit ur area office and write a letter saying that u will not download more than 20gb. but u shouldn't exceed again.

their area manager said the same thing to me too..but why we should give them that kind permission to limit our own connections ??? there is no usage meter too ..so how the hell we know our usage???

Well, as it seems now it is officially confirmed that the TRCSL will implement! How can these people even think of a FUP for such slow connections? 512K and 1Mbps is like really small speeds for a FUP!! haha
According to http://www.trc.gov.lk/press-room/ar...-to-improve-broadband-qos-a-reduce-price.html there is really NO REASON as to why they cannot keep up current packages. Keep writing those letters! This is really a joke everyone! FUP for 1Mbps! haha
Plus, may I ask... the Sri Lanka Power system runs at 230VAC... how many houses in the country get exactly 230VAC?? TRC has to remember that this is developing country when marking the green zones! Man and we are arguing these things when only 2% of the country has internet.... what a joke!!

I bet one of these reasons are "trying to provide ADSL lines with above 75% speed per connection", this isn't possible for broadband... if you want speeds above 75% per single connection you need a lease line.. aka dedicated bandwidth!! below 40-50% speed is unreasonable! but above 75% is asking dedicated bandwidth for Rs. 1600....

The broadband operators are not allowed to apply FUP or any similar traffic throttling mechanism on subscriber services without obtaining a prior approval from the TRCSL.so what is the use of TRCSL if ISP scammers like SLT and Dialog already implemented the FUP without atleast notifying their customes???

TRCSL has gathered i.e. data usage volumes of the subscribers who use unlimited services for a variety of purposes.Before that TRCSL should take a serious action against these ISPs who cheated on their customers !!!
