Sri Lanka Telecom SLT Broadband – Complaints have been received about undisclosed traffic throttling

 The broadband operators are not allowed to apply FUP or any similar traffic throttling mechanism on subscriber services without obtaining a prior approval from the TRCSL.

so what is the use of TRCSL if ISP scammers like SLT and Dialog already implemented the FUP without atleast notifying their customes???

TRCSL has gathered i.e. data usage volumes of the subscribers who use unlimited services for a variety of purposes.

Before that TRCSL should take a serious action against these ISPs who cheated on their customers !!!

Very true, but I doubt anything will happen to SLT coz this is a one way road.. seriously? what can TRC do?? I'm quite sure they are not going to cancel the license over this issue.. even if they do... its again the consumers that will be affected at the end...

But we must remember that the TRC is not the angel here... the TRC is the reason SLT had to implement the FUP... yes the TRC didn't say "implement FUP" but they wanted broadband speed increased! ISP's couldn't do magic... newtons laws applied.... every action has a opposite reaction... for one connection to speed up, another must slow down

Again I stress the fact that the Green Line of 75% for broadband speed.... Sri Lanka is still just not ready for it... Its as they say "Easier said than done"

the problem is Sri Lanka doesn't invest on what they really want
they need somehow get that freely or cheap, but remember in initially step
investment might be high according to the learning curve ,initial stage's cost might be high but when produce more products unit price can be reduced.
but in SL it doesn't happen they still keep the price high though produce more products
now in Srilanka there are more people tend to use 512kbps speed package so as the service provider their responsibility is increase bandwidths by buying more and more and balance the requirements ,I think SLT has been recently granted from ISO 9001:2008 Standards according to that they need to satisfy the customers' requirements if not it was considered as violation of that standard so u can even complain to ISO Organization.

there is no connection between SLT Internet bandwidth throttling and SLT PeoTV.

coz peoty uses only SLT internal bandwidth. it has nothing to do with INTERNATIONAL internet bandwidth.
