Parliamentarian from Gampaha District Mervin
Silva, who was sworn in as the Deputy Minister
of Media when portfolios were handed over to
UPFA Parliamentarians, has resigned from that
portfolio and has been appointed as the Deputy
Minister of Highways today (5th) morning. The
Minister of Highways is the President.
Speaking to the media Dr. Mervin Silva has said
he was sworn in as a Deputy Minister of
Highways in addition to being the Deputy Minister
of Media. However, the presidential media unit
states Dr. Mervin Silva resigned from the post of
Deputy Minister of Media today morning. The
reason for Mervin Silva to resign from the post of
Deputy Minister of Media has not been revealed
yet.
Appointing Dr. Mervin Silva, who started his
media suppression by breaking into Sri Lanka
Rupavahini Corporation and continued his
marauding acts by attacking and setting fire to
‘ Sirasa’ and attacking journalists, was condemned
by many locally as well as internationally and the
government was found fault with for appointing
such an individual for the post. However, Dr.
Mervin has been thrown out from media to the
road now.
