Customs can open any package. If the package is plain or gift wrapped, there is a chance that they wont bother with it but that's a chance you will have to take.chandima3010 said:machan ahuwenawamaida?

If you really want to do this, try it out with a really cheap phone (Rs. 2000/- ) in plain packaging or gift wrap. If you receive that unopened and without tax, wait for some time and get the phone you want in the same packaging.
Oh, and when buying phones, make sure the thing works in SL. Phones from some countries doesnt work in SL due to difference frequencies that are being used there.

if you are gettin it as a gift I sender must mention the amount of the gift,so from that customs get an idea or else you might need to provide necessary documents to clear ur package,chandima3010 said:1st f all thanx lich ayya 4 visiting my thread![]()

but I think the best method is to under value ur phone and tell the sender to send it in a cheap looking package(i.e refubished boxes) so even though customs open it up they wont bother into higher tax rates,

Ofcause!. We have to pay tax for the 60k price. If you argue, they simply confiscate the item and getting it out after that bigger hassle.crazy life said:just to know
think that we are bringing N95 for 30000rupees and the customs tells that the specific model is priced at 60000rupees,then do we have to pay just according to that price?
For all electronic items they have their own price list.crazy life said:afaik they do it according to the price we get the product but for some products they have their own price listing
recently I have brought some electronic items to SL but I never faced to that situation,I just have to produce my purchase order and they taxed me according to that.kosandpol said:Ofcause!.
