4.10pm The umpires are out there with umbrellas, stamping on the outfield and feeling the damage done. No time can be added on as everything that was available was taken into account with the delayed start.
"We only have nine overs to play with," notes my undersung colleague Sajan who is scoring this match for us today (ie I only add the comments). "That means we have around 45 minutes to play with once the innings break is over and if you take into account the 15-20 minutes needed to get the covers off, we have 30 minutes - or it's a washout."
4.15pm Just a slight drizzle now - the cut off time is 4:43 local time, not a minute longer. Oh good, they are removing the big covers, but the cover that is protecting the pitch will remain as it is still drizzling although ABC reckons it's a 4.40 restart. Not much room to manoeuvre there then.
