CIMA suspends Sri Lanka branch

Local accounting community shocked, but committee says problems have been simmering for months
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) – UK has suspended its local branch, the Sri Lanka Divisional Council, in a move that has stunned its 4,000 members and shocked the local community of accountants.

The UK-based organisation, which controls its Sri Lanka branch, said the suspension was taken on recommendations from an independent review.

This is the first time in the Sri Lanka chapter’s nearly 25-year history that the council has been suspended.

For people who already done CIMA it shouldn't be a problem.. infact they will be more valued now..

I'm not sure what will happen to students who are currently following it!

is it bcuz CIMA accountants will no longer be available or something else
n there is a pretty good chance that they will remove the suspension n start all over again soon i guess

Well if CIMA is no longer available in SL, the remaining CIMA certified people will be on high demand wont they?

Machang you better go and ask the Management as soon as possible... its better that you guys hold all your fee payments at the moment until they give and assurance that ya'll wont be affected!!!

Just because CIMA Sri Lanka branch *closed shop* doesn't mean that your qualification is not valid anymore!

That doesn't make any sense at all!
