Attachmax Features File Formats Supported
Attachmax has separated the File Formats into 3 different groups recognizing the need for each format to be treated differently.
Firstly any File Extension can be supported, by going into administration and adding/Removing Extensions.
The three groups are:
* Videos: Depending on Server Software Installed, you will be able to support popular Video Extensions such as wmv, mpeg, avi, mov, rm, asf, mp4
* Images: Jpeg's, Gif, png by Default, displaying Image links with ImageShack style Reference pages.
* Files: Any file extension can be put here, but by default the script will support, zip, rar, doc
Uploading - Via Progress meter / By url
The Progress meter is a flexible solution for the attachmax script, we've developed this feature that enables the admin to be able to switch between 3 different Progress Meter's that are available and best suited to your situation.
1) Perl Progress Meter - This Progress Meter has been built from the ground up, this is integrated with the script to provide a combination of perl/php code. This will be available for both Shared Hosting and Dedicated/VPS Servers which gives users the ability to use a progress meter that wasn't available before without recompiling php.
2) Php Advanced Progress - This has been built purely on php incorporating AJAX technology and improved by using SAJAX, however it requires Php compiling to work.
How the progress works, is that it will list the current transfer rate, as well as how much time is remaining, outputting a neat percentage. This works whether you're uploading to a slave server or normal server, or even through the handy Upload Via Url.
Load Balancing | Multiple Slave Servers
One of the most unique features of attachmax is the ability to Load Balance the traffic, infact out of all the major Video Upload scripts, attachmax is the only one to cover this factor.
This feature allows you to spread the traffic and load onto multiple Servers. As your traffic increases you need a way to balance out these factors.
For instance, if your script is overloading your bandwidth and is on the same server that you use to host your site, what will happen is that your website will be outputting slow to load, therefore you will lose visitors. Other considerations are Hard Drive Space, so without additional Drives or Servers, the webmaster will be forced to resort to suspending uploading, or organising the deletion of files.
The addition of another Server or Hard Drive can be added by running the Slave Installation Script. Upon completion of the installation, admin is able to disable, delete and modify the parameters of the new slave. If you have more than one Slave Server or Hard Drive, then the server with the most space is chosen.
Payment Gateway System
Administrators have the option of passing all registered members through a payment system, that can use paypal or 2co. Paypal is one of the most widely used payment systems in the world. The benefit of 2co is that it can be used for Credit Card Transactions, so it can support additional countries. This gateway system also processes payments for potential Advertising through the medium of RSS. More information about earning revenue can be read here.
Design & Template System
Css has now been used for all attachmax webpages, each of these pages can be opened up in WYSIWYG editors such as Dreamweaver, Frontpage or even just a Notepad. The Div's have all been neatly named and organised into seperate html and css files.
All pages have been tested in the 3 major browsers, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera, one of the major additions, is the module ThemeDev based on Drupal, administrators can log into admin, and displayed will be all of the css tags named in their respective order. This is a great step for beginner coders to understand the structure more.
The Design of Attachmax.com has been designed with a purpose, to make it easy for a user to upload a file without getting distracted by hundreds of different elements. One noticeable part of the design is that each part of the upload process has been numbered, and split into seperate sections. The attachmax site looks clean, professional and easy on the eyes without looking to dull. With the future in mind, the site has also taken steps to integrate Language Icons. Tested on all major Browsers, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera the design works well on all browsers.
Hotlinking Protection
This Hotlinking Protection is very different from others, one of the major negatives for most Upload websites is that they don't offer the ability to use Download Managers.
This is how the attachmax System works, a user uploads a file generating a reference link. This link can then be shared across multiple forums, blogs, emails & messenger sites. The Downloadable Link generated on the reference link page is different for each user and is timed. Therefore a user will have a limited time to copy and paste the direct downloadable link to other locations, before the download link will become unavailable. The reference link can be posted at any time and all users are free to download at any time provided they are within limits of the set time.
This enables users to be able to download files without having to worry about browsers crashing, making this a more efficient experience for both the user and the host.
One of the issues with Streaming Video sites, its that its needed to allow the users to gain full access without restriction, with this is mind the Downloading of Streams and Download links are in opposition to each other, so to overcome this, the admin has the choice to switch between download protection or freely available embedded streams.
Upload and download
Youtube Videos
Youtube is the most popular Video Content Websites currently, but doesn't allow you to download the flv files, so we have intigrated this to allow users to obtain any video they desire on
youtube. Everyone now has the comfort to watch
youtube videos at any time, in any browser with no waiting for streams to finish.
Upload Multiple Files
Users can upload multiple files at once, giving titles, tags to each upload, this supports not only via 'Upload via Browse' but through Url. Uploading can be a time consuming tasks and this allows you to just queue the files up and let the Uploading Process go. Once your videos and files are uploaded, it then takes you to the result pages that display all of the reference links with their titles in one page, so you can easily just copy and paste them into your destinations.
Support for Images
You're now able to create imageshack style links using the same uploading page, with this gives you numerous links, making it easy to share in forums. You can even just give direct links. Perhaps there's an image located on the web that wont allow you to hotlink, users could just upload via url to your server, and gain access to this sought out image.
Images are now linked to files uploaded and Custom Profile pages, allowing you to create personal galleries in your profile. The foundations have been built and now images are searchable and taggable, very much like the popular webpage flickr.
Web 2.0
Registration with Geoip & Custom Profile Fields
Registration now contains custom Optional fields that a user can add, this will display profile info to other users. Users can then customize and edit their profiles with the below fields:
Age:
Avatar:
Hobbies:
Comments:
Country:
This Field is controlled by Geoip, which means that it will automatically detect your country based on your ip. Geoip can then be linked in future with settings of limitations to countries based on Ip.
Profiles will not only contain information about a user, but links to Uploaded Files and personal Rating info.
Voting (Available only for v2.1)
Votes can now be placed for users and for Videos. Admin has control whether to disable/enable the voting for either:
- Users
- Videos.
The voting procedure is limited to registered users only, but will display the voting count on the Video Pages, User Profile Page and on the Homepage.
Contained is 5 Stars and as a user hovers over a certain number of starts, will determine how many votes are placed.
Tags
Part of the new Web 2.0 Technology, tags have become an important component for Websites. allowing content to be more easily structured. Users can then sort through defined content through the related tags or they can even use the search sorting through tag keywords.
Rss Feeds
Rss feeds have exploded into Webpages, many sites are using them as xml feeds, we thought it would be a great idea to enable the ability to provide Rss Feeds News directly on Download Pages with related content. These Rss feeds can be submitted via admin, or through the advertise page.
Feed links can also be displayed on the homepage as news items under different categories.

Bookmark Links
The latest craze to hit the internet is Digging and bookmarking and we've incorporated this into the most popular pages, that being the Reference Link pages that contain the file/video links. Users can simply just hit digg and promote your pages with the touch of a button.
Comments
Essential for Community Driven sites, viewers can provide Feedback to uploaded content, creating more interest into the subject which translates to more traffic and possibly more Uploaded Videos by users. Administrators are able to enable/disable comments to all users or to Registered Users only.
Furthermore, comments can be deleted individually both for guests and registered Users via the Admin Control Panel.
User Login
Members can login into attachmax, giving many additional benefits. Uploaders that login are able to view statistics of all the files that have been uploaded, when they add comments there names will also be displayed to Files and Videos. There is also a Personal page where a user can edit information about themselves.
Useability
Advanced Search
Users have many options to search, the search has been established as one of the most powerful features available and this is also one of the most used, so it had to be done right, giving the user an easier journey to find what they are looking for.
Options available are to search via Keywords or via Tags.
You can then specify if you're after Video, Images or Other Files. With the extra option to define a category.
This can then be sorted by Views, Date or Download Count.
Related/Random Videos
Just Like
youtube, related Videos are displayed randomly whenever a user accesses a video or file, This encourages the user to view more videos and keep the community growing by keeping users longer onto the site and encouraging users to view videos that they may be interested in.
Sort By Category
Attachmax has provided a way to sort through each category in list form, as your site grows it can be a convenient option..
This page uses ajax, that enables you to select a category independently, so its not needed to reload the entire page. Other great features are related Tags and an option to list the files alphabetically in your chosen category, just like you see in many Music Video sites. On the right side menu, is provided a login form and random videos to balance the page.
Most Popular Videos
Attachmax displays the Videos into 3 separate sections, Video's, Images and Compressed Files. Each of these pages display the most popular Videos. You're then able to customize this page in many different ways such as:

* Most Viewed in a chosen category:
* Latest Viewed:
* Latest Viewed in a chosen category.
Download Files/ Videos | Rapidshare Timer
Attachmax gives the users not only the ability to stream videos but to able to download them onto their own pc, to view them anytime, without internet connection or waiting for the stream to be downloaded, which can be perfect for 56k users. An additional part to this, is that users are able to turn on a Download Ticker, much like rapidshare.com, that doesnt allow downloads until a specified time is finished. This Download Ticker is controlled additionally with Image Verification and can be Enabled/Disabled in the admin control panel.
Short Url's
These days, search engine rankings has become an important factor in webpage success, gone are the days when links such as dl.php?23493849214893 would be acceptable. Therefore the landing pages have all been coded to give not only search engines a readable file name but this can be specified through the title that is set upon upload. This title can be edited afterwards via the admin panel. We've made the this feature switchable incase the user doesnt have the required Software modules.
Video | Flash |Encoding
Streaming Videos & Encoding
Streaming Videos these days is done by converting Video Formats into Flash format, two current quality encoders that are free are FFmpeg and Mencoder.
Once the Videos are encoded into flash format, they are fed into a flash player that streams the video. The benefits of Flash is that it doesnt suffer at the hands of Cross Browser problems that occur when directly embedding videos.
Attachmax has been customized to make use of these two Video Encoders and with the Video Tool provides many different options.
- Choose between Mencoder or FFmpeg
- Ability to re-encode Videos at set quality(bitrate)
- Ability to Adjust Video Resolution.
Custom Flash Player
Currently using a custom flash player, users are able to stream forward, back, stop and play. Mute the volume or adjust the slider to a specified position while displaying current time status. The Player is sleek, clean giving you unobstructive viewing. that allows not only fixed in size but can be viewed in fullscreen mode. This is great for those difficult to see pictures or perhaps you would just like to give users the option to see footage in a larger mode.
Users can also embed the videos onto websites, blogs, forums. This can be done just by copying and pasting the Embed text thats provided for each video, generating more potential traffic towards your site.
Administration
File Management
File Managment is presented neatly and can be sorted by:
Filename, Type, Downloads, Bandwidth, Views, Bandwidth, Date
Then inside each file is editable:
Thumbnail, Category, Description, Title, Key, Tags
If the files arent up to scratch you have the ability to selectively
delete Multiple Files at once, if there is a file that's hard to find then
available is the option to search.
User Managemen
The organisation of Users is fully functional and much like the File Management,
the details are cleanly presented allowing you to manage users via:
Login, Name, Email, Ip Address, Status.
Inside the edit menu you can also limit individual users to specified Bandwidth Speed/Thread Limits.
Admin is also able to add, delete or Search for Users.
Error Reporting
Administrators can now send Error Reports to Attachmax Developers, if there any errors that show up on the script. This will definetely help Attachmax Developers in providing solutions to problems in a quick manner.
Advertisment Placeholders
Advertisement Placeholders allow administration to place Adsense, YPN, banner or any Advertisment codes into set locations of the script, without needing to know any complicated Html, Css Code. The Adblock is editable via a WYSIWYG editor that gives you full control of how the advertisments will look. Via admin the placeholders can be switched on or off.
There are 3 locations that adblocks can be placed, these are:
* Homepage ( Below the banner)
* Side Block ( On Homepage and List)
* Video Pages ( Below the banner)
Uploading Restrictions
Different restrictions are available to be set via admin control panel. Adminstrators can limit uploading to these 3 settings:
Registered Users: ( Only users that register will be able to upload, this can be defined through payment only)
All Users: ( Anyone can upload)
Administrators: (This will allow admin more control over the videos)
Mass Delete
Administrators are able to mass Delete items in their File administration, saving Moderators valuable time. Moderating content can be a time consuming task going back and forth deleting between each page, so needed was a way to selectively mass delete content.. The selected files in admin are then processed and deleted both in the database and in storage
