Megalodon sharks are not a fiction. They went extinct about 3.5 million years ago. Even the fossils have been found.

Read about the Megalodon... Many thought it was a bigger version of the Great White because of the tooth similarity. But it wasn't - it was a different species that inhabited the tropical warmer waters. It went extinct as the sea temperatures fell.
