Q6600 is no longer supported by intel now. They have advised the vendors to phase it off the market. So if u have to claim warranty someday,it wud be hard to find one in shops. Go for a 45nm core 2 duo or quad proc.:)

If you are talking about these two processors...
E7400 is MUCH easier to OC. You can easily hit 3.6GHz with stock cooling, and even with a normal overclocking mobo.

But to overclock a Q8200, you need a highend mobo (because the multiplier is 7 and to reach 3.6GHz, you need ~515MHz FSB), highend RAM and very good cooling. You'll be able to hit 2.8GHzish easily though.

If you are not into heavy multithreaded applications, especially graphics rendering, the dual core will be the best choice, and you will save like Rs. 8000 as well.

Quad core will use more power, so your power bill also be more with the quad core. Not a lot, but in the long run it can become significant.

It's all up to you. It's your money, it's for what YOU do.

For me, there is no need for a quad core. Right now, the price difference is too much to suggest a quad core, especially when the clock speeds are vastly different as well. If both were running at the same speed AND if the price difference was only 8000, then maybe a quad core is *more bang for the buck*.

when comparing the q6600 with the e 8400 the the e8400 is slightly ahead........and less expensive as well.......
q8200 is 2.33 but the 8400 is 3ghz and 6mb l2, but multitasking will be efficient on the q8200

You should not have what you don't need.

I cleaned my room, and man it was a mess (and even that mess was way better than any other "boy's" room :D)

Took out a lot of old, broken and unwanted PC junk. :D

You can't really compare the performance based on one feature. There are 3MB cache C2D's performing better than 4MB C2D's even with lower clock speed. E6750 vs. E7200 for example ;)

If u r going for a Quad dnt buy Q6600... Last time Barclays & PC Partner ppl said that Q6600 is 26000 & PC partner said AMD Phenom 9950 is 21000....
These two CPUs are same in Rendering & Phenom got higher memory Bandwith than all Intel Core 2s & Quads...

And If u going for AMD system u can get Free good Nvidia or ATI Intergrated(Onbord) Graphic....
    But If u go for a G31 u will hav a damn Intel 965 graphics..(Even Crysis Warhead dosn't work i think) (IMO)
So wot is the best for ur budget...? And are u a gamer..?
