Oh I forgot to mention one thing. Overclocking makes the dual core more beneficial than a quad core

i currently use a E4600 OCd 2.80 with the stock cooler........and im hoping to go for the e8400 rather than the q6600 or the q8200

You can't really compare the performance based on one feature. There are 3MB cache C2D's performing better than 4MB C2D's even with lower clock speed. E6750 vs. E7200 for example
