I don't think you can, but if you let them know they will activate the card so you can use abroad. if you are going away for few years

1) Pay the balance and close the card
2) Tell them that you cannot pay at once and get them to close the card and arrange a payment plan.

Do Not tell them that you are going abroad ! They will come after you asking to settle your total bill before you leave.
