There are so many other reasons to not to come out of the closet...
    Specially for boys...
When you straight your hair and color it, Dress like emo, many people thinks some other weired things! :baffled:

Well it depends on the society. Some ppl are pretty opressive when they see a different (radical) apperance. There are some others who might be tolerant about things like this. . .

actually emo is a fashion in my opinion, maybe a lifestyle . . but because of the suicidal tendency attached with emo culture, ppl tends to segregate it. coz it's a lifestyle u can be an emo, but no need to show out wearing black clothes and sneakers. u can still live by the ideals but avoid the opression associated with it.
emo culture got that gay image coz of the associated weakling and overt sensitive image. . anyone can call an emo a sissy and sadly coz of it, the emo thinks he/she is rejected and goes deeply into a state of reclusion and depression . . finally suicide

A sub culture is not just how you dress up and makeup. Let me explain how wide a lifestyle can span...
Fashion(Dress, Makeup), Music, Dance, Literature, Religion, Medicine (Drugs), Foods (recipes), House Decoration, Automobile, and finally Sex and Behavior.

It could mean the whole life for someone.

People change their behavior to show to others and to get attention. Everybody needs attention. Even me!

I'm difrent. Very diffrnt from ya all... And I want to make a statement to be different from others and to express that.

I think Gothic fashion and Lifestyle is Cool in many points. But I'm not very much in to it... I'm again different from that... And let me tell you one thing..., There is a kind of people out there who hates the ones who be different, They want everyone else to be like them. Ok, This is the other thing... I don't want to be like enyone els, an I don't want ennyone els to be lyke ME!

I'v been a littl too open this time, maybe <...>

Ya I'd agree on that point. . . but why do ppl want to shift from a "regular" world and absorb a subculture, this is what we should ponder about. It how the society had influenced them . . mostly it's opression which makes a person think he/she is different and so absorb a subculture wich might welcome he or she with open hands, and he/she then tries to express it openly too ans to defy the society which bought much pain and suffering. . . that's how it becomes a person's whole life.

I believe myself to be a goth . . but u'll not see me going around wearing black clothes, eyeshades or sneakers . . . nobody will believe or is able to find unless i proclaim it openly . . i don't feel like i'm rejected coz they don't know what to expcet from me. . . . being alternative is for the sole purpose of being different of the normal "society" . . .different views, different culture and different existance.

Fashion is a way to express your ideas openly . . and challenge the society . . it's quite brave but most like to keep to themselves and be of minimum inteference to the society they want to detach from. It's true detachment coz u are no more controlled by their ideals.

I guess, you know what I am. But you may not see it on how I dress. Of cource I don't wear a pointed hat and etc. Yes Fashion is the best way of expressing yourself, but there are many people out there who wear stuff that they don't know the meaning of...

No one would go out just directly shouting out "I'm Emo!" or "I'm Goth" or anything. It should be expressed in a certain way, and slowly. People like you and me don't express it at all. But isn't it thay call as "Hiding in the Closet"?

The same ppl who are saying we are hiding in the closet will start protesting if we reveal ourselves. It's just the nature of them . . .they fear anything which is not made up to their block.
Pointed hats are just a stereotype . . and u know if u don't dress up to the defined stereotype, again the society will reject u saying u'r not what u mean to be. . pure irony.

ppl who wear, say pentagrams for eg, but doesn't know the meaning are doing it just coz it's the current fad and it's "cool" to do so. . .thoses types of "cools" rapidly fade and renew . .so these ppl will drop the pentagram as soon as it falls out of current fashion. but only ppl who knows the true meaning will continue to wear it coz they understand that a pentagram expresses their beliefs and are one with the identity it will present them.

A person decides to continue "hiding in the closet" coz that will cover him from the society while he gets the freedom to practice his ideals. after all the prime aim is not to show off, but live according to your beliefs.

I don't think a person is a true emo or goth untill he/she admits it . . .eventhrough a person expresses the qualities but doesn't admit to be it, then if u call that one a goth/emo . .it's branding. society tends to brand ppl as nerds, playboys, junkies, geeks, sluts and of course heretics emos and goths. it's how the society understand a person and tends to reject him/her based on the stereotype. i think we've chatted countless times about this and the need to stay "underground"
And if a person proclaims to be a goth/emo but doesn't have the characteristics . . or understanding about what the hell he/she means . .that is a damn poser.

Now the problem is what are the characterstics which will define a person as a goth/emo . . lol it rounds up to how the society had stereotyped it. a paradox

and about me admiting to be goth, u'll not see me anywhere brandishing satanist symbols or attending "goth booze parties " it's just something in the mind . . a desire to be different from the rest. :) i see most of the qualities in u but i can't brand u unless u admit to be.

ok now whyd anybody want to label themselves lol i mean i wouldnt want to..
and characteristics considered in present days seem to be only the music somebdy listens to and how he/she dresses.
.its pretty stupid so my advise is dress as you want listen to what you will and fuck the tags and being tagged..if anybody wna wear dark clothes and black eye liners nobody should give a damn about it but again the society won't stop bitching i guess you remember that british gothic girl being beaten to death for how she dressed like ..
i think ive told this before ive pretty much grown outa labelling myself where i used to think im goth ..
ok that aside are you there?
