agalloch is one of my favs when it comes to doom, so it's raining in lanka?

I got quite an experience listening to this album on a cold raining night with all the windows open. . the rain was coming into the room and somewhere it was dripping from the ceiling. It's an experience i can't explain in words anymore.

The theme of this album seems to be about the winter, darkness and cold . . those are the environmental cues u need when u'r listening to this album.

I'm thinking why doom has such a sense in our mind, is it coz ppl are pure pessimistic or do they perfer negativity over the sugar cake world.

i wonder if agalloch are doom at all ..vocals aren't doom at all and their music is too progressive and this album is the only one i find less folkish may be that's why i can't get into other albums in the first place ..so id say they are folk black progressive doom metal if such a thing exists lol

and colombo is right now so supportive with doom metal lmao

lol when it comes to defining genres i'm hopeless . . i can't recognize the borders of progressiveness.

here i think it' the theme which makes this album being categorized under doom. sometimes anything dark and depresive seems to be categorized as gothic, i've seen tags like gothic ambient and even darkwave on this album
i'd prefer to call this album simply ambient . . a light listen since the growls are not too clear at low volume.

colombo needs to be photographed in black and white or sepia. . .we can get an effect of a failed nuke attempt or maybe even a post apocalyptic hell.

hehe i don't think "heavy listenage" is gonna do the trick . . . i've reserved my ears for something else. about the depressive nature, i don't feel it here as in sentenced albums nor is there the gothic catchyness of charon albums.

colombo a desolate barrier ridden security zone. . surrounded by bleak images of centuries old british architecture. . .this is the bland chilling image of colombo i like to see.

colombo needs a nuke plant near the harbor . . .that will do the trick (nuke plants bring a sense of power and oppression)

lol my time is short .. i can't dedicate the whole time to depressive music . . lol i don't need at all. there are many things happening here enough to make me utter depressed, quite an adventure here :) lol even a common flu can be depressing, girls are depressing when they start to trust u with their personal sex life. lol

lol having a nuke plant around could inspire one to write about post apocalyptical situations so i second that

lol and needless to say those songs are too long...i thought things are quite funny around there ..lol i wouldn't mind being distrusted :rofl:

hey sam whle you are around id like to hear your interpretation to this lyrics..specialy the last verse is fucking mystery to me lol black is blue and haze is haze

    THE CROWN OF LEAVING

...And so we take the gift of crying
and bask in the fire of past
    the grandeous hope undying
the wish will fall at last
...So this is the sweetest choice
    unhearing gate unhearing breath
embrace the stigma of the voice
the kiss of life the kiss of death
...Bewitch the sense of the forgotten
disarm the fear of all the pain
when all what hurts is slowly rotten
    it's the symbol's garden's gain
...And now it's the triumph of leaving
    let all your tears behind
take farewell of all the griefing
    it's only your eternal mind
    ...Leave it all in serenades
the only real love is between your grace
take a look behind the gates
black is blue and haze is haze...

A timeless word, the meanings changed
But I'm still burning in your flames,
    Incessant, lustral masquerade,
Unengaged, dim lit love didn't taste the same
